Macabéa, by composer Suzanne Farrin and librettist Sergio Chejfec, is based on The Hour of the Star by Brazilian novelist Clarice Lispector (d. 1978). It is the first opera based on Lispector’s writing. This is a rehearsal video of Act III, part 10 “veo una flor”. In this scene, Macabéa arrives at Madame Carlota’s studio to have her fortune read.
